Attitudes towards reading amongst kindergarten and Grade 1 children

The goals of the present study were to compare reliability and convergent validity two reading attitude measures for beginning readers get more insight into children’s around transition formal instruction. 468 children in kindergarten Grade 1 completed a traditional questionnaire based on Aarnoutse’s (1990) Reading Attitude Scale an alternative instrument Nielen et al.’s (2016) Picture Evaluation Task. Both measurements had adequate research purposes. Our analysis instruments' suggested that Task was appropriate task. Scores significantly correlated with achievement 1.. Further, first graders higher scores than kindergartners, while no age effect found Scale. Differences correlations between suggest less able students’ is negatively affected by initial difficulties learning read.
